Dulawan said the kidnap victim
identified as Pebelyn Bertulfo Y Mondido, 38, former overseas Filipino worker resident
of Gumahan, Josefina, Zamboanga Del Sur. she was allegedly triplet pregnant and
was reported missing while they were on
shopping inside Gaisano Capital Mall at San Pedro District, Pagadian City.
Dulawan in their initial
investigation said the victim together with her brother and sister in- laws
left Josefina town on 18 June 2014 and temporarily checked in at JRC hotel in Pagadian
City on the same date while waiting for her scheduled caesarian operation.
However, her brother in law went
outside the mall leaving the victim and upon his return, he noticed that his
sister in- law was already missing. Few minutes after, he received a text
messages coming from the victim to quote, “blue van tabang” unquote. At that
juncture, he immediately proceeded to Pagadian City Police Station to ask for
police assistance.
Dulawan said, he was very much
worried with the status especially the health condition of the victim since she
is believed to be pregnant with triplets and was reportedly had delivered
already her baby along the way but to his great dismay it turned out to be all
false after meeting the victim and had a talk with her attending physician at Liloy
Integrated Health District Hospital.
In his press statement on
Saturday Dulawan said based in their investigation the victim was not kidnapped
and medical examination performed by Dr. Joseph Lim proved that there was no
trace of delivery happened.
It was found out that she was
just pretending to her mother and other members of her family that she was pregnant
with triplets by showing them the ultra-sound examination results, Dulawan
added.
Pagadian City Council Chairman
on Police and Public Safety Ernesto Mondarte also said that the matter was
already referred to the City Legal Officer for filing appropriate charges
against her for creating alarm and public disturbance.
Mondarte also revealed that he
learned from the family of Bertulfo that she was been separated from her first
husband after discovering that she is not a nursing graduate. She is presently engaged
to another married OFW man who is also separated from his wife.
The motive behind the false
kidnapping incident and false declaration of pregnancy drama was due to their
family problem, Mondarte added. (By JONG D. CADION)
