PRO9 Awards S.W.A.T. Competing Team during 2nd PRO9 SWAT Challenge



PAGADIAN CITY (Aug.14, 2018) – The Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team of Zamboanga City Police Office emerged as the champion  in the City Police Station category during the Police Regional Office 9 (PRO9) SWAT team competition. The first runner-up is Dipolog City Police Office while the team from Pagadian City Police Office came in as second runner-up, the warding ceremony held at Regional mobile Force Battalion 9 Firing range on August 10, 2018.

PRO9 PIO Chief PCINSP Helen Galvez disclosed that the results release by the secretariat of the competition.

Galvez said that PRO9 conducted SWAT team competition of every police units in the region including other guest participants.

On the other hand, in the Public Safety Forces category, the SWAT team of Zamboanga Del Norte Provincial Mobile Forces Company topped the competition while the Regional Mobile Forces Battalion 9 and Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Mobile Forces Company were on the 1st and 2nd runner up position, respectively, Galvez added.

PCISNP Galvez also said that in the PNP/BJMP Category (Guest Participants), the 5th Special Action Battalion of the PNP-SAF dominated the competition. They also bag the Best in Pistol Match and adjudged as Overall Champion of the 4-days competition. The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology 9 and Aviation Security Group 9 came in as 1st and 2nd runner up, respectively.

The Zamboanga City Police Office SWAT Team who was led by Police Inspector Ahmed Czar A. Astapan, also awarded as Best in Rifle match and earned to represent the Police Regional Office 9 in the 2nd National SWAT Challenge will be held this September of this year, Galvez said.

PRO9 Regional Director PCSUPT Billy B Beltran who leads the opening of the 1st stage of competition in Dipolog City and culmination of 4th stage in Zamboanga City. He said that the competition is in line with the PNP's Master Training Action Plan for Calendar Year (CY) 2018, which aims to enhance the "effectiveness and efficiency" as well as the tactical proficiency of every SWAT units in PRO9, Galvez also added.

Galvez explained that the 2nd PRO9 SWAT Competition which was held at the four different venue in Dipolog City, Pagadian City, Ipil and Zamboanga City, respectively from August 6-10, 2018, the competition was anchored with the four events, namely:

Event 1 (Bus Assault), Event 2 (Especially for You-Transition), Event 3 (The sniper initiated assault and door breaking) and Event 4 (Pistol Pintakasi with obstacle course). (By JONG CADION with PRO9 PR)

Pagadian City Police Station has new COP

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (May 9, 2018) – Police Superintendent Alvin P. Saguban assumed as new acting Chief of Police in this city Tuesday afternoon.

Supt. Saguban replace Supt. Benito O Recopuerto during the turn-over the command of responsibility spearheaded by Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Director Senior Superintendent John Gano Guyguyon at the Pagadian City Police Station conference room Tuesday at 1:00pm.

Supt. Recopuerto designated last August 10, 2017 as Officer-in-Charge in this City Police Station and after almost ten months tour of duty, he will reassign to ZSPPO as Deputy Provincial Director for Administration.

“I would like to express my gratitude to all men and women of the Pagadian City Police Station for giving the all-out support to my command and also to the City Officials for the supports and cooperation, thank you very much,” Supt .Recopuerto in his farewell message.

Supt. Saguban was from Panabo City, Davao del Norte, he was assigned in Zamboanga City Mobile Force Company for almost a year before his assignment in this city.

“My only request to all members of Pagadian City Police Station is that we have our police uniform and we have to respect it by wearing properly because this will reflect our attitude image as law enforcer in order to gain respect and support from the community to whom we are servicing. Murder Suspect Arrested in Pagadian City

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (April 17, 2018) - The personnel of Pagadian City Police Station headed by Chief of Police Supt. Benito O. Recopuerto successfully arrested the murder suspect during conduct of police operation at purok 8, Barangay Manga this city Monday at about 11:30am.

Supt. Recopuerto identified the arrested suspect as Reymart Nano Walohan, 21 years old, male, single and a resident of the said place. He was arrested by virtue of warrant of arrest issued by Hon. Ivy F. Damayo-Elviña, Presiding Judge of 9th Judicial Region Branch 21, Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur for the crime of murder, docketed under Criminal Case no. 13753-2k18 dated January 31, 2018 with no bail bond recommended.

Subject person arrested is now temporary detained at Pagadian CPS detention cell awaiting court disposition. (By Jong Cadion)

Shooting Incident in Pagadian City


PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (April 17, 2018) - Shooting incident transpired at Purok Upo Uno, Barangay Balintawak this city Monday at about 10:20pm.

Pagadian City Chief of Police Supt. Benito O. Recopuerto identified the victim as Ramil Looc Tagalog, 23 years old, male, single and resident of Purok Tisa, Barangay Balintawak this city.

In the initial investigation disclosed that prior to the incident the victim along with his three companions identified as Rodelyn Padogdog (niece of victim), Fredilindo Solis (boyfriend of Rodelyn Padogdog), and certain Leny were on the boulevard located at Barangay Santiago of this city. Meanwhile, at about 10:00pm they decided to go home onboard on a tricycle driven by Fredilino Solis along with Rodelyn and Leny, while the victim rode his motorcycle alone.

While the victim traversing along the national highway of Purok Sili, Barangay Balintawak, two unidentified motorcycle riding criminals onboard on undetermined type of single motorcycle suddenly chased and drove beside the motorcycle driven by the victim and without any apparent reason shot the victim in closed range using caliber 45 pistol. As a result, the victim sustained lone gunshot wound on his head that resulted to his instantaneous death, while suspects fled towards undetermined direction.

PNP personnel of Provincial Crime Laboratory Office responded and arrived at the crime scene and was able to recover one unit cartridge case of caliber 45 pistol.

The personnel of Pagadian City Police Station conducted thorough investigation and follow up operation to possibly identify, locate and arrest the fleeing suspects while motive of the incident is still to be determined. (By Jong Cadion)

Tricycle driver turned over personal belongings Police Station


PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (April 14, 2018) – The Pagadian City Police Station headed by Chief of Police Superintendent Benito O. Rocopuerto expressed his gratitude to the Tricycle driver Felmer Jimenez Torres for the job well done for showing a good example as law abiding citizen in this city.

Felmer Jimenez Torres is a 27 years old, married, driver by occupation and a resident of Barangay Tawagan Sur this city. He came to the Police Station to personally report and turned over 2 bags containing 1 unit laptop, 1 unit netbook and other personal belonging were left by his passenger the other day.

The said items were successfully turned over to the owner Mrs Nida Cabot a resident of Pitogo of this province with nothing less. (By Jong Cadion)

City LGU Chief turn-over 8 brand new motorcycle to City Police


PAGADIAN CITY (April 5, 2018) – Pagadian City Police Station Chief of Police Supt. Benito O. Recopuerto expressed his gratitude to Pagadian City Chief Executive Mayor Romeo P. “Tata” Pulmones during the turned-over of 8 brand new motorcycle vehicles Tuesday morning.

The 8 brand new motorcycles will be used to augment the police reaction team and the mobile patrol team against criminalities, Supt. Recopuerto said.

The Police Chief encourage the populace to be more vigilant and do not hesitate to call the Police Attention if any untoward incident occur in order to have a safer place to live, work and do business as well as the oppressor commit justice.

Murder suspect arrested after Service of Warrant Of Arrest

PAGADIAN CITY (April 5, 2018) – The joint operation conducted by the Intelligence Operatives of Pagadian City Police, Dimataling Municipal Police Station and Regional Intelligence Unit 9 successfully arrested the  murder suspect at Purok Esmeralda B, San Jose District this city Tuesday April 3 at 8pm.

Pagadian City Police Chief P/Supt. Benito O. Recopuerto identified the arrested suspect as Roy Ito Mamaling alias “Dodong”, 39 years old, male, married, Filipino presently residing at Purok Esmeralda B, San Jose District, Pagadian City with postal address at Purok 6, Barangay Libertad, Municipality of Dimataling, Zamboanga Del Sur.

Supt Recopuerto disclosed that the suspect was arrested by virtue of Warrant of Arrest issued by Honorable Felix B. Rodriguez, Jr, Acting Presiding Judge, Regional Trial Court, 9th Judicial Region, Branch 29, San Miguel, Zamboanga Del Sur with Criminal Case No. 15-136 for the crime of Murder issued on March 8, 2016 with no bail recommended.

The suspect is now temporary detained at Pagadian CPS while waiting for court disposition, he said. (By Jong Cadion)

City PNP tightens security measures on this holy week

PAGADIAN CITY (March 28, 2018) – The Pagadian City Police Station tightened security measures on this holy week celebration particularly in the catholic churches in this city.

City Police Chief PSupt. Benito O. Recopuerto disclosed that he declared Red-alert in the entire city to prevent criminalities during the religious activities.

 PSupt. Recopuerto requested the public particularly the motorists and the riding public to have patience and cooperation during the conduct of checkpoint by the police operatives along the national highway going in and out to the city proper.

He also established Police Assistance Desk and increases police visibility in the Integrated Bus Terminal, Malls, Shopping Centers, Public Market and City Plaza, the City Police Chief said.

PSupt. Recopuerto also requested all the urban barangays chairs to involve in the monitoring against lawless elements within their area of responsibilities thru their barangay tanods and report immediately to the police authorities for appropriate action.

PSupt. Recopuerto said the PNP Provincial Mobile Force and the Army’s 53rd Infantry Battalion augmented the city police operatives in conducted checkpoint.

Zero firecracker-related incident in Pagadian City

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur -- The police have reported they recorded zero firecracker-related incident during the New Year’s revelry in this city.

Supt. Benito Recopuerto in an interview Tuesday attributed this achievement to the strict implementation of the firecracker ban ordinance and the designation of fireworks display area.

Mayor Romeo Pulmones has designated the City Plaza as the fireworks display center during Christmas and New Year’s Eve revelry.

Reopuerto said that this is the second year this city recorded zero firecracker-related injury since 2016.

He also recognized the effort and support of other government agencies in the campaign against the use of firecrackers like the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), City Health Office and the barangay officials.

This city comprises of 54 barangays 14 of which are classified as urban villages.

Recopuerto announced they would prioritize this year’s campaign against crime those against property, unregistered vehicles and driving without license aside from illegal drugs.

This, as he cited the presence of several unregistered vehicles roaming around the city and drivers without license as well as high incidence on crime against property. (PNA)h
