Suspected big time drug pusher falls in Pagadian City

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (Jan. 20, 2015) – The Pagadian City Police have arrested 3 suspects and confiscated 1 medium-size heat-sealed plastic sachet containing 3 packs of illegal drugs or shabu weighing 5 grams each totaling approximately 15 grams and 38 packs in plastic drink straw containing shabu and illegal drugs paraphernalia in a Buy-bust operation Monday evening along Rizal Avenue corner F.S Pajares this city

Pagadian City Chief of police Glenn M. Dulawan said the raiding team of Pagadian City Police Station led by Deputy Chief of Police and Team Leader of Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Force Senior Inspector Rommel Gabriel Etbew successfully arrested the 3 suspects and the confiscation of Shabu and paraphernalia with street value worth of 150  thousand Pesos.

Dulawan identified the suspects as Mohammad Romandiar y Ampuan, 37, married and resident of Libod, Madaya Poblacion, Marawi City, Lanao del Sur, Froilan Tayrus y Andilab, 24, resident of Kalasan and temporarily residing at San Pedro this city and Dorothy Paraquelles y Montargo 27, a live-in partner of Romandiar and a resident of Barangay San Pedro.

Confiscated also from Romandiar was a single motorcycle XRM used in transporting the illegal drugs.



Dulawan disclosed that Paraquelles was first arrested at her residence at San Pedro ina raid at about 5:00PM while Romandiar and Tayrus were arrested two hours after during the conduct of buy-bust operation at corner F.S. Pajares Ave and Rizal Avenue after they were identified caught in act selling illegal drugs to the poseur-buyer policeman.
  
The confiscated suspected shabu will be submitted to the Provincial Crime Laboratory for examination.

The suspects are now temporarily detained at the City police lock-up cell while inquest case of violation of section 5 and section 11 of the R.A.9165 otherwise known as Dangerous Drug Act of 2012 being prepared for filing today at the City Prosecutor’s Office. (JC-MPF News)

Pagadian City fiesta celebration reels off; security tightened

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, Jan. 9 (PNA) -- The police in coordination with the military have tightened security in this city to ensure the safe celebration of this city’s fiesta.

This, as the celebration kicked off at 1 p.m. Friday the highlight of which is the feast day of Sto. Niño, the patron saint of this city, on January 18.

Supt. Glenn Dulawan, city police chief, said security measure was tightened effective Thursday afternoon with the deployment of sufficient number of policemen in strategic places here.

Combined police and military personnel conducted saturation drive Friday morning in the coastal barangay of Sta. Lucia following information about the presence of suspected lawless elements in the area.

However, Dulawan said no one was arrested and no firearms were confiscated during the saturation drive.

The fiesta celebration kicked off at 1 p.m. Friday with the re-enactment of the arrival of Sto. Niño at the wharf of this city.
 
It was followed by a procession from the wharf to the Sto. Niño Cathedral. The novena is set at 5 p.m.

Meanwhile, Mayor Romeo Pulmones announced the cancellation of the Pasalamat Festival 2015 street dance competition to pave way for the holding of the Church-led activities.

The Pasalamat Festival 2015 activities are sponsored by the city government.

Pulmones said they cancelled most of the city government-sponsored activities so that the security measures will be focus to the series of Church-led activities.

He said the only city government-initiated activity that was not canceled is the two-day regatta from January 17-18.

This year’s festival is anchored on the theme “The Child Jesus was born poor to save the poorer.” (PNA)

Pagadian City records 1 stray bullet victim, zero firecracker-related incidents





PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, Jan. 1 (PNA) – The local police have recorded a lone case of stray bullet victim with zero firecracker-related incidents during the New Year’s revelry in this city, an official disclosed.

Supt. Glenn Dulawan, city police chief, however said Thursday that the number of stray bullet incidents in this city is lower by one compared to the two cases recorded in the previous year.

Dulawan identified the stray bullet victim as Marly Tabudlong, a 19-year-old college student and a resident of Barangay Sta. Maria this city.

Dulawan said investigation showed that Tabudlong was already sleeping in her bedroom around 1 a.m. Thursday when she was hit on the left thigh by a bullet that pierced through the roof.

Dulawan said a deformed slug was recovered from the victim’s bedroom and was submitted to the Provincial Crime Laboratory for ballistic examination.

He said the victim was rushed to the Pagadian City Medical Center and was subsequently discharged after medical treatment. (PNA)
