A Two-day training
on gun handling was conducted by this office on August 16 and 17, 2014 at the Capitol
Compound and at the Zamboanga Del Sur Provincial Government Center. The first
part is a lecture on gun safety by SPO1 Alan Zamora and a review on the PNP
Operational Procedure by PI Alfon Belloan. The next part is the marksmanship
and proficiency firing at the firing range at Zamboanga Del Sur Provincial
Government Center at Barangay Dao which was handled by SPO1 Zamora and
Councilor Ernesto Mondarte. This training was funded by the LGU through the
Peace and Order Council Chaired by Hon. Mayor Romeo Pranza Pulmones supported
by the Peace and Order and Public Safety Committee Chairman, Hon. Ernesto
Mondarte.
Of the thirty
participants, twenty will be selected to initially compose the Pagadian City
Motorcycle Mounted Police who will be primarily tasked to patrol the streets and
to react to distress calls. This will address the problem perpetuated by
motorcycle-riding criminals plying their trade in this city. The project was
proposed by the OIC, PSupt. Glenn Macario Dulawan and funded by the LGU.
Ten
motorcycles were initially purchased for the purpose and another ten will be
added if more personnel will be downloaded to this station. Portable radio sets
will also be issued to the selected personnel for maximum coordination. To
sustain its function, Mayor Pulmones promised additional gasoline allocation to
keep the motorcycle-riding policemen in the streets.
