CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, Jan. 2 (PNA) – Authorities here reported zero
firecracker-related injury but admitted that one person was hit by stray bullet
on New Year’s revelry.
Supt.
Michael Palermo, local police chief, identified the stray bullet victim as
Enecito Caño, 45, a resident of Bersales Subdivision, Barangay Bulatok, this
city.
Palermo
said the incident occurred barely 10 minutes past 12 midnight as the residents
welcomed the year 2016 with parties and family gatherings.
Palermo
said Caño was having party together with his family in front of their residence
when a downward stray bullet hit his left foot.
He said
the victim was rushed to a hospital and undergone a surgery to extract the
bullet slug on his foot.
“We are
still waiting for the ballistic result to determine the caliber of the bullet
that hit the victim,” he said.
He said
investigation continues in a bid to unmask the culprit behind the incident for
appropriation action. (PNA)
